The Up-Down von Frey tool estimates the 50% threshold using the Up-Down method based on the original work by Dixon (1965) and Chaplan et al. (1994). The advantage of this resource is the possibility to adjust the experimental settings in order to increase the precision of the estimated threshold (ref our paper). However, modern statistical software allows for a more complex algorithm for estimation of 50% thresholds including better estimation of the between step intervals (Christensen et. al, 2019).
